| ABOUT US
It is very important to us that our customers are happy and comfortable in their homes long after we're gone. We care deeply about craftsmanship and we respect the unique needs of each homeowner. We assess your needs and assemble the best team for your project. And, we're there everyday until it's complete.
Some of our employees have been with us for over 15 years and we have the same long-time association with many of our sub‐contractors. Their excellence and attention to detail make them a perfect fit with Silva Brothers' building philosophies and values.
In a house, that means using tried‐and-true, traditional practices; in a business relationship, it means being conscientious, honest and dependable.
Beginning a home construction project can be daunting, and we know how important it is to have complete confidence in your contractor. You want to know that we have the knowledge and experience to guide you through every step of the process, and that we will be there everyday until the job is completed. At Silva Brothers we do those things, because we respect your vision, your time and your budget.
From day one, the Silva Brothers crew is on site, and Tom or Charlie is involved with all of the details of your project until it is complete.
Our attention to detail and concern for our customer's needs are the reason that homeowners come to us in the first place, the reason they come back to us again and again, and why they refer us to their friends.
For over 60 years, the Silva family has been providing construction services to the Boston area. Tom Silva's father was a Lexington-based contractor who started the family business and retired in 1985. Since that time, Tom and his nephew Charlie have become co-owners of the well-known and highly reputable company.
Tom Silva grew up with a hammer in his hand. He started as a child working alongside his dad. They lived in a 1787 colonial home in Lexington, which was in constant need of work. His father had Tom helping him on weekends, and Tom loved the work so much that he knew he wanted to continue in the family business.
In the mid-1970s, Tom and his father were building a set for a PBS show, The Victory Garden. The director of that show was so impressed with their work that he asked Tom to be the general contractor for a new show that he was going to do, This Old House. Tom has been doing that show now for over 25 years. His unrivaled knowledge and reputation have made him a foremost authority on every aspect of home improvement and repair.
Charlie Silva grew up learning the business from his Uncle Tom. As far back as he can remember, he worked summers with Silva Brothers and, in 1981, came aboard full-time.
Today, Charlie is a homeowner's point of contact throughout the duration of a project. Charlie provides project estimates, coordinates crews, schedules subcontractors and manages ongoing costs. He acts as a liaison to a project's architects, local municipal boards and permitting authorities.
Tom and Charlie value their customer relationships, and together they ensure that every homeowner will be satisfied and comfortable in their home long after the project is complete.
